چکیده
In this paper, we propose multi-input multi-output (MIMO) beamforming designs towards joint radar sensing and multi-user communications. We employ the Cram\'er-Rao bound (CRB) as a performance metric of target estimation, under both point extended scenarios. then minimizing CRB while guaranteeing pre-defined level signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) for each communication user. For single-user scenario, derive closed form optimal solution cases targets. show that problems can be relaxed into semidefinite programming by using relaxation approach, prove global optimum always obtained. Finally, demonstrate numerically globally solutions are reachable via proposed methods, which provide significant gains in estimation over state-of-the-art benchmarks.

Cramér-Rao bounds for radar altimeter waveforms
The pseudo maximum likelihood estimator allows one to estimate the unknown parameters of Brown’s model for altimeter waveforms. However, the optimality of this estimator, for instance in terms of minimizing the mean square errors of the unknown parameters is not guarantied. Thus it is not clear whether there is some space for developing new estimators for the unknown parameters of altimetric si...
متن کاملCramér-Rao bound for range estimation
In this paper, we derive the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) for range estimation, which does not only exploit the range information in the time delay, but also in the amplitude of the received signal. This new bound is lower than the conventional CRB that only makes use of the range information in the time delay. We investigate the new bound in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with atten...
متن کاملCoarrays, MUSIC, and the Cramér-Rao Bound
Sparse linear arrays, such as co-prime arrays and nested arrays, have the attractive capability of providing enhanced degrees of freedom. By exploiting the coarray structure, an augmented sample covariance matrix can be constructed and MUSIC (MUtiple SIgnal Classification) can be applied to identify more sources than the number of sensors. While such a MUSIC algorithm works quite well, its perf...
متن کاملSequential Cramér-Rao Lower Bounds for bistatic radar systems
This work deals with the Sequential Cramér-Rao Lower Bound (SCRLB) for sequential target state estimators for a bistatic tracking problem. In the context of tracking, the SCRLB provides a powerful tool, enabling one to determine a lower bound on the optimal achievable accuracy of target state estimation. The bistatic SCRLBs are analyzed and compared to the monostatic counterparts for a fixed ta...
متن کاملAsymptotic Cramér-Rao Bound for Noise-Compensated Autoregressive Analysis
Noise-compensated autoregressive (AR) analysis is a problem insufficiently explored with regard to the accuracy of the estimate. This paper studies comprehensively the lower limit of the estimation variance, presenting the asymptotic Cramér– Rao bound (CRB) for Gaussian processes and additive Gaussian noise. This novel result is obtained by using a frequency-domain perspective of the problem as...
